"What should you be aware of when there are fallen power lines?
Avoid touching anything, such as a car, object or equipment, or anyone who is in contact with a fallen power line. Keep children and pets away from fallen electric lines. Avoid driving over a fallen power line. Call 9-1-1 immediately to report a fallen power line."
And the high-tension lines are run straight across (and straight up&down) landscapes for which straight lines are disastrous. The undergrounding of every last power line would vastly improve the landscape and the safety of everyone.
As we approach the serious bottleneck of lack of transmission for all the new and upcoming power generation sites we will need far more of those lines installed. The obvious thing to do is bury them all, and the best sites to do so are the interstate freeways and significant state highways.
Still true today...

Thanks for pointing out that the problem still exists
Hey, it wasn't all bad. It led to the invention of the electric chair.
There’s dark. And there’s darker.
This makes me think that today's "disrupters" are nothing new. It's always about gaining a presence, public be damned!
