As a former bishop and stake president in the LDS church, either Romney believes his own religion or he believes this wall chart. They are not compatible.
There are people who absurdly insist the decline stage is the ideal. Al these goofy fascists dream of a king. So It's interesting that Romney has a more sophisticated view.
This is terrific, Peter! I can’t wait to study it having just read The Atlantic profile of Mitt.
The article documents the sacrifice of principle of the Red party. Mitch, Graham, Cruz, et al. Those f***ers made a deal with a fool that they knew was a fool and spoke of him in those terms.
Furtherance of this foolishness and our democracy will have one of the shorter time spans on this map.
I’m grateful for the “normies” who speak out. Too many seem hell-bent on breaking democratic institutions - the foundational operating principles on which we agreed.
Inflation, policy, etc., take a second seat to holding true to what really matters.
Yep, Mitt’s true colors showed up recently in his stated opposition to the child tax credit part of the tax relief package. This from a guy that pays $5,000/mo for private security.
I don’t know what he thought of the so-called ‘border protection’ package. So-named as to be a Red party dog whistle.
That in combination with the Ukraine/Israel/Taiwan support package has turned into a mobius strip. Reds voted border package down. Senate approves the military support but “Praise Orange Jesus Johnson” said it’s dead because there’s no border security it.
Fascinating map - I had not seen it yet. Romney may not be the best human, but I feel like he's the last of a dying breed, of conservatives with values. I'm not suggesting he's a hero, but I am suggesting that the "we care about values" ship has sailed.

I have mixed feelings about Romney, but some of his ‘burns’ in that article are priceless
With a head nod to James Carville...
“It’s the democracy, Stupid!”

Best to you and thanks for engaging!
Glad to read your reactions to my posts.

Red party is compromised of idiots.
Is it not the height of irony a movement ostensibly to make America great again could be our downfall?
The height of irony

History will eventually decide about Romney. Feels rather complicated right now
I like that take, and I share it.
There are way too many people saying "I know" and not enough simply admitting, "I don't know!"
Time and history will inform us eventually.
Thank you- also just read the Atlantic article and was looking into this very topic. 🙏
You’re welcome. Enjoy
