Whoa! John Groth! His book "Studio Europe" is an amazing recount of his work for the Chicago Sun illustrating the war in Europe. He really was where the action was. Great read, with wonderful line drawings throughout.
To be fair, the only copy of this book I've ever seen was the one my dad's uncle had on his shelf. He was a WWI vet who was quiet, funny and fierce about American democracy.
And Syracuse NY to Portland Ore: $135! Seems a lot back the even for “luxury.” Maybe one would have to wait “for an Inheritance” after all. Great stuff as always!
