Perfect analogy of adjusting the narrative to suit the time. I lived through these times, from post WWII, to Cold Was threats from Russia, as a military dependent who went to Tripoli, Libya and came back after a Coup in 1969, the Kingdom of Idris was overthrown by a young Qudaffi. He came to save the Country and his greed destroyed a beautiful land and it’s people, a land with a long history of invasions and takeovers. My point is simply declared saviors always come with one agenda in mind and it ends up going wrong. That is we’re History into play!

The current road the GOP is on is destined to fail because their plan is old and flawed, this why it continues to fail!

They may be Federalist but they are Originalist!

All they claim to be against is what they seek.

It is not the party of Lincoln or Regan, it is the power of a select group of power player who intend to dominate and dictate to their subjects...

Proposition 187 "Save Our State" and Republican Governor Pete Wilson's nativist anti-immigrant campaign backfired and drove voters into the Dem's arms, but California has a long history of electing Dems.

This is very much the world I grew up in. It's tough to explain to folks who didn't live through it.

It is amazing how this kind of reductive thinking sustained media throughout the 1980s and definitely continues today.

Horsey is from Seattle and I always looked forward to his cartoons in the SEATTLE TIMES when I lived there. I'm so glad that things are so much better than in the 1980s, and we have Ronnie and Nancy to thank for that.

When we had newspapers and they had staff cartoonists?

Thanks! Nothing like a reminder of the LAST time I was totally embarrassed by a Republican TV star President to start my day right! I’m gonna go make a nice cup of arsenic now.

Someone should do this for 45’s view of the world. What an interesting contrast that would be. Two sides of the same deluded world view. Wish I could draw.

I’m not sure 45 knows anything about the rest of the world

Well, he like the late Queen of England and was very excited to meet her, because his mother watched her coronation on television, as described in Mary L Trump’s book Too Much and Never Enough. He also knows some countries by the name of their dictators. He thinks Bahgram is in Alaska. And gets the states mixed up. Maybe Ill try something on Canva. might be amusing.

Interestingly there's a whole genre of modern map memes which were modelled along these lines.

Compare this British video of much the same era; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2n87YKSjrA
