I learned something new today. Apparently pickles and pepper sauces are the gateway drugs to the Martini.

I just saw this yesterday on Reddit! Thanks for all the pertinent info regarding its history. All this temperance stuff was full on propaganda. I can’t imagine living in the US during those 13 years.

I saw it too. Which it what caused me to go back and do some more research to flesh out more about the "it's your mom's fault" theory of alcoholism.

After scanning more of Hubbard’s book, it seems that he was preaching that kids should be raised on bland vegetarian food. Nothing to stir the senses and eventually lead to alcohol

Was Kellogg a fan? iirc that was basically the just of his healthcare regime. (Yes, I do mean the Cornflakes guy - that’s why they taste of nothing!)
