I think he must have had an incredibly strong character, to keep living his own way, despite everything life threw at him! Thank you for sharing this story - these are the sort of people we should try to remember: those who rebel by living their lives!
I’m always startled by how some some historical figures seem so “modern.” I think it’s a contemporary “arrogance” to think that we’re the only people that have lived these lives.
This is just one reason that what you are doing is so important. I shall pass this information on to a few who will also appreciate learning about this quiet revolution. Hateful that his house was burned after his death though.
