I wonder if this is where DeSantis got the idea to ship homeless immigrants to Martha's Vineyard.

Nah. He got that idea from his crony bus company and air freight operators.
What disturbs me most about this (and still does with the Sally Army) is this idea of those that are “worthy” of more help. Who decides worthiness? On what grounds?
Surely just being born a human being makes you worthy of help in hard times?
Not to cast any aspersions on the Salvation Army but the "Work will make you free" theme didn't have a very good connotation in 1930s Germany.
Bad people can and will subvert anything given enough time, money, and power. 🤦♀️😫
