The Ancestral Snobbery-Microbe (1898)
How it is born, what it feeds on, and what it may come to.
Print shows a vignette cartoon, with "America's Real Order of the Descendants of Kings" at center showing caricatures of an African-American laborer, a woman domestic, and an Irish hod carrier. The surrounding vignettes depict family members discussing their ancestral heritage, or lack of it, as well as shysters offering to provide ancestors to those lacking proper pedigree.

Wow! If that doesn't 'splain basic tribal hierarchy, class envy, racist tropes, patriarchal themes, and, ultimately, human nature, I don't know what does. The Darwin Investigation Society sounds like fun!
I really enjoy your posts.
