Drop Down Fifth Wheel for Parallel Parking (c1933)
Great idea - but never mass produced
Back around 1933, Brooks Walker invented and patented a drop down fifth wheel that could assist cars to parallel park and maneuver into tight spots. It also re-appeared in a 1951 Cadillac concept car. But never went into production. More info here
