Dr Seuss: "Waiting for the Signal From Home" (Feb 1942)
Seuss saw Japanese Americans in California, Oregon, and Washington as a "Fifth Column" loyal to Imperial Japan, receiving explosives, prepared to conduct sabotage against the US when directed.
From 1941-1943, Theodore Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss, worked as the chief editorial cartoonist for the New York magazine PM, creating over 400 editorial cartoons. These images have been digitized from the published versions of the cartoons, held by the UC San Diego Library. More of his political cartoons here.
